(Foundations – Part 2)

Hello! I’m glad you decided to come back 🙂
If this is your first time here, please check out my Simple Faith post for Part 1 of Foundations.

I wish I could tell you that my foundational beliefs have been the same my whole life but you know that’s just not true. In fact, I personally believe there isn’t a human being or religious organization on the face of this whole earth who has God 100% figured out nor do I believe that is a possibility this side of Heaven. Because of beliefs like these, I try to hold most things with open hands, allowing my Teacher/Friend, The Holy Spirit, access to ALL of what I THINK I know or think I have figured out about God and living life His way.

By the time I made it to 2007 though, I was living quite a different story. Until then, I lived life with closed hands, tightly gripping MY TRUTHS, MY REALITY. My pride was alive and well and calling most of the shots. Control, fear and LOTS of judgement held pretty high positions in the decision making processes of my mind as well. You see, that year began a 2-year separation leading to eventual divorce from my first husband and my whole world came crashing down around me. Most everything I THOUGHT I knew about God and His ways was reduced to 3 basic ideas in a matter of months.

Standing in the rubble of what I had previously been so sure of was devastating to say the least. But as usual, God was faithful even though I wasn’t. During the next 5 years, Papa (that’s what I call God) would SLOWLY remove the debris until we got to bedrock again. Only this time, I chose to show up and just participate in the build rather than act like the General Contractor who already had it all figured out.
There are others, but these 3 pieces are are what He poured first when rebuilding my broken life:

  • God is good
  • He loves me
  • I can trust Him

Over the last 10 years, He has deepened the footings of each one, showing me sweeter and sweeter truths about these and more! It has been, without a doubt, the greatest adventure of my life! He is tearing away the legalism and complications that go with living according to “the law of sin and death” and is lovingly teaching me how to live by “the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus”.

You should want to know that I’m not some far-left or right, crazy-thinking woman before you invest much more time coming back to read what I have to say, so the following facts about me should help you decide whether you want to or not 🙂

  • I am a born-again Jesus follower, a Christian, a Christ-follower.
  • I believe the Bible is “active and living and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart”.
  • I believe the story of Jesus and that all He did was FOR ME. I believe in the restitution He paid for my sins and by that sacrifice, I now have full and complete access to a relationship with a God Who describes Himself and the type of relationship He wants with me as someone who calls Him “Papa/Daddy”.
  • I believe the story of Creation as described in the Bible.
  • I believe that God ALONE is the giver of life. That He ALONE chooses our DNA and knits each human life together in the wombs of women.
  • I believe in and have a thriving relationship with each person of the triune God I do my best to serve: Papa, Jesus and The Holy Spirit.
  • I try to live my life as though all I can see, hear, taste, touch and smell is NOT the most real but rather what happens in the Spirit realm, CALLED FORTH BY FAITH controls what happens in the physical realm. I believe that what we believe and why we believe it is what forms the lives we live.

When you, by faith believe that God is the origin of all life,
that the Bible is true,
that Jesus died specifically for YOU,
that the Holy Spirit was created to be your Friend and give help as you need it,
life takes a sweet and simple turn.

If you are looking for simplicity in these complicated times, keep coming back.
I believe Papa has what each one of us needs!

*** I have to add a P.S. to this post because Papa is funny 🙂 While I was finishing and getting ready to publish it, my Bible app sent out the verse of the day. It is:
1 Samuel 2:2 There is no one holy like the Lord. Indeed, there is no one besides You nor is there any
ROCK like our God. 😉
That’s what I call a “God wink”! Be blessed, y’all!
